Nestled in the tranquil natural reserve of Alde Feanen in Friesland, this sustainable recreational houseboat offers a unique getaway that is accessible only by boat. This secluded location enhances the serene experience, allowing guests to immerse themselves in nature.
Designed to maximize space efficiency, the houseboat features three cozy bedrooms and a welcoming living area, making it an ideal retreat for multiple occupants seeking relaxation. The exterior showcases a modern aesthetic, with large floor-to-ceiling windows arranged in a clean rhythm, flooding the interior with natural light.
A standout feature of the houseboat is the seamless connection between the living area and the expansive terrace, facilitated by sliding doors at the end of the space. The terrace, partially shaded by a pergola-like roof extension, includes flexible sunshades that provide comfort against the sun’s rays. It accommodates a large dining table, perfect for enjoying meals while taking in the stunning views of the surrounding nature reserve, as well as the adjacent garden and docks.
The exterior is clad in vertical wooden siding, complemented by sleek aluminum eaves, creating a cohesive and harmonious connection between the indoor living space and the outdoor terrace.
This self-sufficient houseboat generates its own energy through solar panels and features a substantial water tank located in the basement. Gray wastewater is managed through a septic system, which purifies the water before returning it to nature, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
This project exemplifies sustainable living in a beautiful, remote setting, inviting visitors to unwind and reconnect with the natural world.
